Well it happened, years ago...

... nearly 24, in fact, since we've received new music from Pulp! To celebrate this momentous occasion, the band teamed up with Amoeba for release date listening parties (June 6, 2025). They had us at “new music” but lured harder with promises of giveaways & prizes! We pulled an enthusiastic group of friends to attend the Hollywood event.

Upon our arrival, we expected a queue of people outside, but we quickly realized it was a far more intimate and discreet event. This was surprising, considering the huge PR campaign and stand-alone massive Pulp Hollywood fan base. There were no flashing lights or marquee mentions at the store exterior. Once inside, we made our way towards the back end (before the step down to the CD sections). We lined up for raffle tickets and a chance at a limited edition White Label LP voucher (and other prizes). Tensions ran a bit high since these were “while-supplies-last” giveaways. Most of us early birds scored, but some late comers were left empty handed. We all coveted the pen, poster, and sticker [pictured below, in addition to a store announcement poster (we got permission to snag)]. *note: the bid option on the spare poster*

The listening party commenced while we waited, in anticipation, for the calling of the raffle numbers. They periodically paused the album to announce the lucky winners. We stood by, fingers crossed, staring enviously at the winners smiling with their clear plastic bags of loot. Well, we weren’t big winners but that’s ok. We picked up our own copies of the new release and have listened to it several more times. With each spin we’re consistently blown away by this masterpiece of a comeback album.

'More.' is Pulp though and through, but with a 70s groove to spice things up. In classic Pulp fashion, the track list is easily imaginable as a theatre production. I actually believe this album, especially, could function as such. Their music style combined with the amazing range of storytelling and callbacks to other album tracks just screams musical! It’s no exaggeration to claim that every song BANGS! My personal favorite on the record is 'Tina'.

I look forward to hearing some of these performed live at the Hollywood Bowl September shows. I have just a feeling it will be well worth the wait.
